A few days ago I was asked how I liked my tail, and it got me thinking... the ansois easy for me, I LOVE my Pup Tails! Yep, plural. I have two insertable Tails and I have two show tails. But let’s look more in depth at this subject.
The wide world of Pup Tails
There’s actually quite a variety of tails to choose from out there from various brands to styles and colors. The boom in Pup Culture has allowed suppliers to grow the selection of gear to choose from and tails have been no exception.
Whats in a Brand?
There are a variety of brands to choose from, many of them are fantastic! SquarPeg, OxBalls and Fort Troff are three brands that I’m most familiar with, and I’ll discuss a bit about them. I know there are others, however, as I’m not personally familiar I’ll refrain from commenting as it doesn’t seem appropriate.
SquarePeg has been my favorite brand when it comes to both my insertable Tail Plug as well as my Show Tail (non-insertive). The sizing and medical grade silicon of the Square Peg Insertable made this an attractive option for me, and their styling fits my own personal look. The wag action of both the insertable as well as the show tail is also to my liking... I like a lot of action in the tail when I wag and these tails deliver for me. SquarePeg also offers options in design from Docked Taiks to the standard Puppy Tail and even Woofy Tails. There are many options from SquarePeg to suit a lot of pups needs for style and color.
OxBalls I don’t personally own... yet... but I have several Pup friends who do! One thing that sets OxBalls apart is that their insertable has a larger shape but a much more compressible (squishy) material around the plug. My friends with this tail swear by them for comfort and staying power... anyone who’s worn a plug knows that it can take some work getting used to something beingnin there long term. They also offer unique swirl colors that very in every tail, creating unique looks even in the same color across individual tails. I haven’t tried OxBalls myself yet, but they’re next on my list... I’m honestly a bit intimidated by the larger appearance of the plug, but when I’ve adjusted to my new size in SquarePeg I’ll certainly look to giving OxBalls a try. The wag action of the OxBalls Tail is also nicely exaggerated, similar to the SquarePeg action.
Fort Troff also has a tail to offer pups. The Tail Fort Troff offers is only available in black and only in the “puppy tail” style. It’s a silicon product and comes already installed in a leather belt mount... it’s also a little more affordable than other brands show tails preinstalled in a belt mount. What sets this tail apart is that it’s a much denser silicon than SquarePeg or OxBalls tails. The Fort Troff tail remains firmly erect, however, you should know that the wag action is less accentuated. For those pups who prefer a perky tail, or want a show tail on a budget this is an excellent option!
Insertable V Non-Insertive
With so many options, some of you may wonder why there are both insertable options as well as non-insertive options. Well, for one thing, not all pups enjoy butt toys, and that’s what an insertable Tail is, a buttplug with a tail off the end of it. Also, it’s not always the best idea to wear an insertable everywhere. These are the main reasons both types exist.
Remember, insertables are going into a butt... A BUTT... and despite anyone’s best efforts to prepare, well, it’s a butt... sometimes shit happens. (That’s both funny and true )
Lots of pups, myself included, love expressing their Pup self with their tail in public and Show Tails allow for a hygienic and safe expression of Pup in Public.
In Public there are often times pups encounter inexperienced, uneducated, inebriated or just plain rude people. Sometimes, tails are grabbed or pulled on... with a show tail, it’s a fauxpah, with an insertable it presents the potential for numerous “uh-oh’s” including but not limited to pain, injury and, well, see above... it’s a BUTT.
Personally, I enjoy both types of tails in different ways and for different reasons. My insertable is for private Pup time, play, pregame and sometimes other fun. My show tails are also fun for private Pup time as well as for puppery in public. There is nearly an endless way to enjoy your tail, so have at them and Pup to your hearts Content.

So, this brings us to a summation.
When it comes to picking out a tail... ask around! Your friends, and stranger pups from around the world will typically be happy to share their experiences and recommendations.
Dont feel you need to limit yourself to just 1 Tail. Pup is a Journey, and it will last the remainder of your life in one form or another... likely it will always be evolving for you... and you may desire different tails in the course of that journey. Express yourself, and enjoy the tail or tails that you like best!
Like I’ve said in previous blog posts... Make Good Choices. If you’re planning to be out in public, find yourself a show tail to your liking... Mr-S even has a harness that will mount that show tail outside your clothes in the same place an insertable would come out! 😉 So, don’t feel you have to stick to mounting it using a traditional belt placement. The show tail will provide you a measure of safety expressing Pup, through a tail, in a public area.
Like any and all things Pup, Make It Your Own! Every Pup has the kink-given right to express and enjoy Pup however they see fit... the usual social boundaries of consent and not causing harm to others to be observed of course. Pick out your favorite tail, and if that changes, by all means pick out your new favorite tail! 🐶🐾
